Purpose of the Web site:
The purpose of this web site is to provide resources on psychology to a broad range of students of psychology. The site is geared for students interested in a career in the helping professions, particularly psychotherapy. While there are some resources specifically aimed at people in Dr. Hoffman's classes, the goal is to have a broad based appeal to psychology students in general. If you have any recommendations for links, resources, or other additional information which would be useful, please Email Dr. Hoffman.

Design of the Web site:
In order to make the web site more user friendly, let me highlight a few features of this site. At the top of the page you will notice a navigation bar. This same bar will appear on nearly every page on the site. These are links to homepages for the major sections of this site.

For most pages, there are three sets of navigation bars on the left hand column. The top section, which does not exist on this page, will provide quick links to special features of that particular web section. This will vary from section to section. For example, in the psychology resource section, this will give you quick links to the different sections of the psychology resources.

The next two sections of the left navigation bar (which are the only two on this site) are the same on every page. The Virtual Classroom Features is a particularly important section. This gives you quick links to the writing resource, psychology in the news, web resources, and psychology reference resource sections. Of particular importance is the writing resource section. If you are in one of my classes, it is important to be familiar with this section!! I will continue to update this section and add additional helps over time. Personally, I think this is the most important section of the whole web site and hope people will use it. This provides resources and links to help students become competent writers.

The last section is links to other web sites that have been created by Dr. Hoffman. The Depth Psychotherapy Network is new in development, but is beginning to build many useful resources for students, professionals, and consumers of mental health. This site will be updated regularly. The next three sites may also be of interested for some individuals.

At the bottom of this page is a couple of pieces of important information. Please note the copyright and copyright information link. Intellectual piracy is receiving increasing attention in intellectual circles, the media, and legal settings. In making this information available through this site, it is asked that you respect the intellectual property on this site and the links contained herein. In other words, use the honorable practice of citing your references.

This page contains two additional features not contained on other pages. First, the picture of my dog, Amaya. Second, and more importantly, there is a section on updates & announcements. This section will primarily be used to announce updates on the web site If you are an occasional lurker to the site and want to check out what resources are new, this is the best place to check.

Remaining Relevant:
The hope is for this site to be regularly updated to remain relevant become increasingly useful over time. Please feel free to share this web site with other who would find it useful and/or set up a link to this page. I am a strong advocate of sharing free resources. However, please be cognizant of copyright issues, particularly on papers and publications made available on or through this site.

Finally, please help me keep the site updated by Emailing me with any suggestions of resources, information, broken links, etc. At the bottom of each page is a link to a contact page to make it easy for people to send feedback.
