Words Against the Void: Poems by an Existential Psychologist
by Tom Greening

Book Review

Disclaimer: This book was published by the University of the Rockies Press, of which I serve as Editor-in-Chief.

Many who are fortunate enough to count Tom Greening as a professor, colleague, or friend are familiar with his poetry. He is one who freely shares his gift. As poetry is intended to, Greening is able to speak the unspeakable, and show the courage to express unpopular and uncomfortable truths through his art. On the surface, the reader will quickly smile and laugh outright at the humor of Greenings's poems. But the careful reader will also be struck by the deeper meanings of the poems. It is evident that Greening takes existence seriously, even if he demonstrates this through humor. There are also a number of very touch tribute poems, including five poems written to his friend, Rollo May. So whether client, therapist, professor, student, or observer of psychotherapy, you will likely find this book to be a wonderful read.
